Ice Cream Spree at the Botanical Garden

In a parallel universe where it's always summer holidays and meals consist on ice creams, berliners
and fresh fruit, people eat and drink while they discuss botany, laugh blithely and tittle-tattle about
each other's lives with appetite and guile!

This artwork was created for the SMART exhibition at LIGHT GREY ART LAB in Minneapolis. In a way, it
reveals my personal predilection for observing and portraying the picturesque, ironic and humorous side of

Num universo paralelo onde as férias de Verão não terminam e as refeições consistem em dóceis
gelados, bolas de berlim e fruta fresca, caricatos personagens comem e bebem enquanto discutem
botânica, riem despreocupadamente e cavaqueiam sobre as vidas alheias com apetite e malícia!

Esta aguarela foi criada para a exposição SMART na galeria LIGHT GREY ART LAB em Minneapolis. De
certa forma, revela o meu gosto por observar e retratar o lado pitoresco, irónico e espirituoso das pessoas
e das coisas simples do dia-a-dia. Durante a exposição será possível encomendar impressões de alta

Today I'm bringing some really good news! I'll be part of LIGHT GREY ART LAB's next exhibition!
LIGHT GREY ART LAB is a gallery & art events space in Minneapolis, Minnesota (USA).

SMART: an exhibition of wit, ingenuity and guile is curated by the lovely Amy Ng, founder of Pikaland,
and is a collection of clever, thoughtful and whimsical artwork made by 35 international artists. SMART
showcases the artist's quick wit and subtle sense of humor through their use of visual puns, guile and
seamless presentation of ideas.

The SMART opening reception is Friday, May 17th from 7 to 10 PM, and will remain on display until
June 7th. The opening will include prints by all artists, also available HERE! This is my artwork!

Hoje é dia de boas novas! Vou fazer parte da próxima exposição da galeria LIGHT GREY ART LAB,
em Minneapolis, Minnesota, nos EUA! É bom ter uma grande aguarela do outro lado do oceano!

SMART: an exhibition of wit, ingenuity and guile é uma exposição comissariada pela Amy Ng, a
fundadora de Pikaland, e conta com a participação de 35 artistas internacionais. A inauguração de
SMART é na sexta feira, 17 de Maio, entre as 19h e as 22h, e estará patente até 7 de Junho.

No dia da inauguração será possível levar para casa prints de alta qualidade das obras expostas,
mas para quem está longe, estes também podem ser encomendados pela internet, AQUI!

Antepassados /// Nas Profundezas

"Eu ainda era criança, mal me lembro. Estávamos ali, como de costume, com o pai e a mãe, a avó Bb'b,
alguns tios e tias que estavam de visita, o senhor Hnw, aquele que depois se transformou em cavalo, e nós
os mais pequenos. Em cima das nebulosas, parece-me que já contei outras vezes, estava-se por assim
dizer deitados, em resumo encolhidos, muito quietinhos, deixando-nos rodar para o lado que rodava. Não
estávamos deitados lá fora, percebem?, na superfície da nebulosa; não; aí fazia muito frio; estava-se por
baixo, como que embrulhados numa camada de matéria fluida e granulosa. Modo de calcular o tempo, não
havia; sempre que nos púnhamos a contar as rotações da nebulosa, surgiam contestações, dado que às
escuras não se tinham pontos de referência; e acabávamos por brigar. Assim, preferíamos deixar passar os
séculos como se fossem minutos; bastava só esperar, ficar tapados o mais que se podia, dormitar, fazer
uma chamada de vez em quando para termos a certeza de que estávamos lá todos; e — naturalmente —
coçar-nos; porque se fala muito bem, mas todo este redemoinhar de partículas não tinha outro efeito que não
fosse um incómodo prurido."
